Asus EEE mk 2

I bought an Asus EEE, the new model which has a bigger screen, more memory and has Win XP instead of a custom Linux system. I was willing to try out a user-friendly Linux OS but fate was against that it seems.

So I plan to use this for a communications hub. VOIP and IM's mostly. And a portable internet-capable machine will help when traveling. I've also got a bad track record for being contactable so hopefully this will help.

Well it's charging now. Paws crossed!

I'm seriously contemplating the EEE Box for plugging into the TV when it's released, if it can play back DVD ISOs.

Although the Eee can play video, it wouldn't be up to playing back DVD ISOs. It's only intended as a cheap subnotebook. You can plug the Eee into a TV if you get a VGA to video adapter; I have one myself and I'm hoping to plug my Eee into the TV and give it a go as a set-top box.

(I'm considering one too, since uni got me addicted to a very expensive little laptop, and I had to give it back since it was only for the semester. They do come in handy when in lectures, or doing fieldwork, or bored on a train.)

No. I bought it Sat, had it charging overnight. Sun was dedicated to exalted and when the game ended Marko had already left to spend Sun night with his parents. He will be back late tonight (Mon) and probably Tues night is the first chance I will have to sit down with my IT expert rat and fire the thing up.
