Furaffinity Fat Tuesday, Fat Solidarity
Feb. 5th, 2008 05:05 pmIt seems that even when you're emotionally burned out...there's always more that needs to be done. A cause worth fighting for. Mostly this will apply to Furs who use Furaffinity.

fatfurs and is worth repeating:
Furaffinity Fat Tuesday, Fat Solidarity
For reference, please see: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1053249/#cid:7017004
The Cliff Notes version: Guy puts a pic of his belly on Furaffinity and gets jumped by the body fascist asshole brigade. Imagine your usual spewage of "ew, ew, ew, teh fattehs."
Particularly inflammatory was one person and her venom: "It's ok to not have a perfect body, but please, this is not something to parade around."
This mindset--"don't parade it around"--has been damaging to fat people for decades now and has created a culture of self loathing (to which yes, I do admit to bordering on in the past) that's damaged many people, as if we should hide under piles of clothes and feel ashamed of ourselves. Be imperfect, but not TOO imperfect, essentially.
As tomorrow is Mardi Gras--Fat Tuesday--I would like to suggest a protest meme on Furaffinity. What better a way to stand up to this adolescent vein of furry asshattery than with a simple show of solidarity on an appropriately named day. Whether thin, pudgy, or fat IRL, just post a simple belly picture (above the waist), not for means of eroticizing or exhibition, but to show these people that we won't be intimidated, either IRL or online. Below it, just one simple phrase:
Fat Tuesday, Fat Solidarity
No pontifications, no damning rhetoric, just a simple image and message to let these people know that we won't bow to their body fascism.
I'm posting mine at midnight tonight. Please feel free to join me: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/elbadjah/
*(edit)* And here is my contribution, thanks to
iceleron for the photography.
