ristin: (Sacred WTF Mug)
This was going to be a ranty post about how my assorted bosses are screwing me over...
...until 4:30pm yesterday when my whole situation did a complete about face.

Until then i was waiting for some info to be emailed to me so i could do some documentation work for "the machine" i am SUPPOSED to be working on. So a chance to do the hazop, hazan, manuals and stuff...
...but the email never came.
Why an email, why not just go and do it on site? They were too busy using me as a process worker mook so i never got the time in work hours. So...i was offering FREE out of hours work, and getting no interest. You can see how that made me feel about the people offering this so-called "work experience opportunity."

Various polite attempts at problem resolution failed, leaving me at the point of "enough is more-than-enough for anyone else, time to get hardcore here" but...

4:30 came and the manager (as opposed to the supervisor or the boss-of-bosses...i have too many bosses) he came to me, opened with how he had forgotten about the email (despite a reminder or two) all week...(to be fair this is semi-plausible at that place, it's hectic) but he had now sent it and the boss-of-bosses had asked for me to fire up the machine and run it tomorrow.

Now...
...you can see why this came as a shock.

It's not run since before Marko's last visit here. I have heard nothing about it and no plans...so why now? I'll fire it up, most likely as a warmup for something. But what?
Like, i am grateful that the "real work" is starting up again but i am in the dark on this.
Perhapse it's just using the thing for a day of maintainance since it's been offline so long?
Perhapse it's just to placate me and what minimal contacts i have?
Perhapse the b-o-b's who actually wants this project up and running has kicked the manager into gear for me?
Perhapse now that uni exams are mostly over and we got a heap of new mooks in to work in the factory I can be spared from the process work (despite my skill and experience).
Perhapse it's a cockup and i'm not meant to run the machine, but rather be given a dedicated day for the documentation?
Perhapse i'll get told to stop running the machine moments after i get in the door.

I dunno. no-one told me anything.
Most likely the fact i have less than 1 month left on the job has lit a fire under my excessive number of bosses?

The main thing i am worried about is this. "safety". The machine has been offline for months, i want to take things slow and easy getting it going again. Taking no chances.
...actually i think i'll make a half-day of it...startup and warmup the machine slow and easy, give it the thorough cleaning it needs (taking the protective oil off the drums and stuff like that)...meanwhile mixing up a new batch of product. Yuppers, take it easy, being safe and careful and thorough. SOunds good to me.
That'll help too 'cos in the months the machine has been idle it has become a storage space ^_^ so that'll let the supervisor move and evac stuff before i coat it in a fine layer of "miracle powder".

(for those of you new to my LJ, who have no idea what this machine is...about a third of my LJ is about this machine, a third or more is gushy mush about Marko, and the other third is random memes and other irrelevant craziness. Look back about 2 or 3 months and you'll see what this 'machine' issue is all about.)
(here is a summary http://www.livejournal.com/users/ristin/77889.html lol)

Anyhow, this leaves me in an emotionally shellshocked sort of state and i'm going to wander off to work now with an attitude of "wtf is going on? screw it i'll just see waht happens as i go."
...and here i go. Time (past time) to head off for work.
